Beyond the Shed
Beyond the Shed is a comprehensive new program designed and delivered by WASIA to assist shearing contractors diversify their businesses. This will help contractors offer a wider range of rural services in their local areas, providing them with year-round work.
The program aims to retain skilled contractors and teams in regional WA, support local economies and communities, and ensure the continuation of essential agricultural services.

Chalice Mining
Chalice Mining is a globally recognised specialist explorer and developer with a major greenfield platinum group element (PGE), nickel, copper, cobalt and gold discovery at its Julimar Project in Western Australia. Chalice’s Julimar discovery was recently recognised by the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, with the discovery team receiving the 2023 Thayer Lindsley Award for best international minerals discovery.
In December 2025, the Pre-Feasibility was completed determining the optimal development pathway for the Project. A long life and globally critical minerals mine in Western Australia, set to generate A$4.7bn in free cashflow pre-tax, with a rapid payback of ~2.7 years.

We provide strategic information and advice to the WA Government on industry workforce development and training needs including skill shortages. We make recommendations to the State Training Board to support our industries skill development needs.
Every day, the organisation engages with people who have a vested interest in workforce and skill development to gather and report on current and emerging industry trends and developments and obtain feedback on industry skill needs, priorities and skill development issues, concerns or suggestions for funded training in Western Australia.
